DH Deciphers: Customer and merchant banks to get 70% of UPI MDR revenue
From October 15, UPI transactions over Rs 2,000 will attract a 0.4% MDR capped at Rs 300. Banks will retain 70% of the revenue, with issuing banks getting 40% and acquiring banks 30%. The move aims to balance affordability and sustainability in India’s digital payments ecosystem.
