UK rents rise at fastest pace this year as housing costs remain elevated

Average private rents across Britain rose at their fastest pace this year in August, adding to the pressure on households facing elevated housing costs, according to official data released on Wednesday.
Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed average private rents increased 3.8 per cent year-on-year in August, up from a 3.7 per cent rise recorded in July. The latest increase was the strongest since December.
