India-Pakistan Warships Collide In Arabian Sea: What Article 10 Of 1991 Pact Says On Distance Between Ships

An Indian Navy warship and a Pakistani naval vessel have collided in international waters in the Arabian Sea, prompting New Delhi to summon Pakistan’s top diplomat and lodge a strong protest. The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday described the conduct of Pakistani naval units involved in the incident as “unacceptable and unprofessional".

India said the incident did not result in major damage, but maintained that the Pakistani vessel’s conduct was in violation of Article 10 of the 1991 India-Pakistan agreement governing advance notice of military exercises, manoeuvres and troop movements. New Delhi has also instructed its Charge d’Affaires in Islamabad to lodge a parallel protest with Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
