PM Modi is the country’s longest-serving non-Congress Prime Minister. PM Modi, who started his political career as a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been the face of landmark BJP victories in three past general elections.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organised various programmes across the country, including blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, a nationwide seva campaign and a special youth rally from his birthplace, Vadnagar, to Varanasi to mark PM Modi’s 76th birthday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday thanked people across the country for the birthday wishes, affection and blessings he received on his 76th birthday, saying the messages had given him renewed strength to continue serving the people.
In a post on X, Modi expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of wishes and said he valued every message of warmth. He also acknowledged those who took part in various Seva activities organised across the country during the day.
“Every word of warmth is deeply cherished and gives me renewed strength to serve our people,” Modi said in his post.
The Prime Minister also urged people to continue working towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’. His message came as several programmes were held across the country to mark his birthday.
Among the initiatives was the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ campaign, under which people were encouraged to light lamps as a gesture of blessings and goodwill. Large-scale diya-lighting events were organised in several cities, including Delhi, Ujjain and parts of Assam and Gujarat.
Earlier in the day, Modi had also thanked citizens for the affection shown through the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday lit a lamp and offered prayers for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s health and long life as part of the celebrations marking Modi’s 76th birthday.
In a video shared by news agency ANI, Singh can be seen lighting a lamp while extending birthday wishes to the Prime Minister. Singh said he prayed for Modi’s “excellent health and long life” and urged people to light a lamp of blessing for the Prime Minister.
The gesture comes amid nationwide celebrations marking PM Modi’s birthday on September 17. The BJP has launched the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ initiative, under which people have been encouraged to light lamps at their homes between 6 pm and 7 pm and pray for Modi’s health and longevity.

The birthday celebrations are also part of the BJP’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, running from September 17 to October 17, with programmes including blood donation camps, cleanliness drives, tree plantation and other public-service activities.
Singh was among several political leaders who extended birthday greetings to Modi on Thursday. His message also referred to India’s stated goal of becoming a developed nation under Modi’s leadership.

The Chenab Rail Bridge holds special significance for the region. PM Modi had visited Reasi last year and inaugurated the bridge, which has since become an important landmark in the area.
On PM Modi’s birthday, BJP MLA Kuldeep Raj Dubey, along with other party workers and local residents, joined the celebrations at the bridge.
During the programme, BJP workers said the Prime Minister’s birthday was being marked through various events across the country. At the Chenab Rail Bridge, they lit diyas and extended their wishes for PM Modi’s long life and continued good health.

The special lighting programme, organised to mark PM Modi’s birthday, will see 76 large diyas lit at the historic monument. Organisers say the lamps are intended to symbolise blessings, goodwill, best wishes and the spirit of dedicated service to the nation.
