‘Meri Degree Ka Kya’: Congress marks Modi’s birthday with an ultimatum & pan-India campaign
Indian Youth Congress has threatened to surround Prime Minister’s official residence if all vacant government posts are not filled by Modi’s next birthday (17 September, 2027).
New Delhi: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) has picked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday to launch a nationwide campaign: “Meri Degree Ka Kya”.
The youth wing of the Congress has put the central government on notice, threatening to surround the Prime Minister’s official residence (7, Lok Kalyan Marg) if all vacant government posts are not filled by 17 September next year. It has also demanded that the government issue and stick to a recruitment calendar for every vacant post with clear deadlines for the entire process, from recruitment exams to final appointments.
“The youth of our country are distressed by severe unemployment, and the lack of jobs has left them frustrated. Jobs in the private sector are continuously shrinking, yet despite more than 50,05,850 vacant sanctioned posts in government sectors across the country, the government refuses to conduct recruitment drives. Filling these 50 lakh vacant sanctioned posts will not only employ our youth but also fundamentally improve public services like schools and hospitals,” Akshay Lakra, president of the Delhi Youth Congress, said Thursday.
