Mecca Security Alert: Mecca was placed under a security alert after Saudi Arabia intercepted and destroyed a Houthi drone south of the holy city before it could enter restricted airspace, in a major escalation amid renewed attacks on Saudi territory.
The Saudi-led coalition said the drone was intercepted south of Mecca and was destroyed before breaching the restricted airspace over the city. The coalition warned that the security of Mecca and its holy sites remained a “red line."
