Punjab BJP launches ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark PM Modi’s 76th birthday
Chandigarh/Pathankot, Sep 17 (PTI) The Punjab BJP on Thursday launched a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
As part of the initiative, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon and party in-charge Satish Poonia visited the residence of a beneficiary of the Modi government scheme in Pathankot and lit an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’.
Former state president Ashwani Sharma and general secretary Rajneesh Dhinman were also present with them in Pathankot.
Later, the two leaders participated in an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme at the Pathankot railway station, where 1,100 ‘diyas’ were lit.
BJP leaders and workers extended their greetings to the prime minister and wished him a long life, good health and continued progress for the country.
Congratulating Modi on his birthday, Dhillon said his public life had been marked by service, dedication and nation-building.
He said over the past 25 years, Modi held various responsibilities, from chief minister of Gujarat to prime minister of the country, and worked for India’s development.
Dhillon said several initiatives had been undertaken by the Union government under Modi’s leadership to extend the benefits of welfare schemes to the poor and needy families, strengthen infrastructure, expand digital services and enhance India’s position globally.
He said the prime minister’s birthday was not merely an occasion for celebrations but also an opportunity to take a pledge to serve society and the nation.
It was in this spirit that the BJP had launched the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, he added.
Dhillon said the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ symbolised the happiness of families benefiting from government welfare schemes and represented the outcome of public service.
BJP workers, he said, would use the campaign to establish direct contact with people, understand their problems and needs and contribute to various service activities.
He said several service initiatives, social activities, blood donation camps, beneficiary outreach programmes and other public welfare activities would be organised across Punjab under the campaign.
The objective was to further strengthen the BJP’s principle of ‘Seva Hi Sangathan’, he added.
Dhillon said India was moving ahead towards the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ under the leadership of Modi.
He said BJP workers would continue to discharge their responsibility towards realising the vision of making India a developed nation by 2047 with the participation of every citizen.
Poonia also extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Modi and said the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ would take the spirit of service and social responsibility to the people.
In Jalandhar, the party organised a series of programmes dedicated to service, commitment and public welfare.
BJP Jalandhar president Ashok Sareen Hicky said BJP workers celebrated Modi’s birthday not merely as a celebration but as a day of service.
On the occasion, service activities were carried out at the leprosy ashram, disabled ashram, gaushalas, orphanages and various social organisations.
School bags and educational material were distributed among needy children. In addition, ‘havans’ and ‘yajnas’ were organised at temples, ‘ardas’ was offered at gurdwaras and prayers were held at various religious places for Modi’s good health.
In Chandigarh, the BJP organised several public service programmes, including blood donation camps, distribution of baby-care kits and serving senior citizens to mark Modi’s birthday.
Baby-care kits and diaper pants were distributed among mothers of newborns at the General Hospital in Sector 16 and Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32.
The BJP OBC Morcha organised a blood donation camp where 90 units of blood were collected, according to a party statement.
The morcha also organised a programme at the Senior Citizen Home in Sector 15, where fruits were distributed among elderly residents.
As part of the celebrations, the BJP also organised an ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme at several locations across the city, including Sector 17 Plaza, Railway Station and Panjab University Convention Centre. PTI CHS KSS KSS
