Indices snap 2-day losses; FMCG shares rally

As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex jumped 332.63 points or 0.45% to 74,336.45. The Nifty 50 index added 99 points or 0.43% to 23,217.60. In the past two consecutive trading sessions the Sensex and Nifty declined 1.20% and 1.53%, respectively.

In the broader market, the BSE 150 MidCap Index rose 0.07% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index shed 0.13%.

The market breadth was negative. On the BSE, 1,990 shares rose and 2,344 shares fell. A total of 253 shares were unchanged.

The United States 10-year bond yield shed 0.04% to 4.994.
