A Special NIA Court in Jagdalpur on Wednesday awarded the death penalty to all 10 CPI (Maoist) cadres convicted for their involvement in the 2013 Jhiram Ghati attack in Chhattisgarh, one of the deadliest Maoist strikes against political leaders in India.
The court had convicted all 10 accused on September 5 after finding them guilty under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Indian Penal Code, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act. The quantum of punishment was pronounced on Wednesday.
