Harry Brook entered his name in the history books on Tuesday (September 15) by becoming the first player from a full-member team to score multiple T20I centuries in a calendar year as a captain.

Brook, who replaced Buttler as England’s white-ball captain in 2025, scored his maiden T20I century as England captain on February 24, 2026, against Pakistan in Pallekele during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He then played an unbeaten knock of 114 runs against Sri Lanka in Southampton on Tuesday.

Before Brook, only two captains, Adil Butt of Eswatini and Faheem Nazir of Switzerland, had managed to score multiple T20I centuries in a calendar year, but both are from ICC Associate Member teams.

Rohit Sharma of India and Pakistan’s Babar Azam are the only other captains from full-member teams to score multiple centuries in T20Is. Both of them scored three centuries each as captains of their national teams.

Brook has played 17 T20Is for England in 2026 and scored 634 runs. He tops the list of England captains with the most T20I runs in a calendar year.

The overall record for scoring the most T20I runs in a calendar year as captain is held by Babar Azam. Babar played 29 T20Is as Pakistan captain in 2021 and scored 939 runs.

During his stay at the crease in the first T20I against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, Brook faced 49 balls and hammered 10 fours and six sixes to score 114 runs.

He added 128 runs off 60 balls for the second wicket with Jos Buttler, who made 80 runs off 44 balls, and stitched partnerships of 36 and 59 runs for the third and fourth wickets with Tom Banton (10 off 10 balls) and Will Jacks (21 off 12 balls), respectively.

On September 15, 2026, Harry Brook became the first player from an ICC full-member team to score multiple T20I centuries in a single calendar year as captain. He achieved this milestone by scoring an unbeaten 114 runs against Sri Lanka in Southampton, following his maiden century as captain against Pakistan in February 2026.
