'Give some breathing space': Supreme Court tells CBSE to ease third-language rule for Class 6 students this year
The Supreme Court has asked the CBSE to relax the new third-language policy for Class VI students this year, citing mid-term implementation concerns. The bench suggested a phased rollout from January 2027, giving families time to adjust. The ASG agreed to convey the court’s views to the board.

The court indicated that relaxation could apply to current Class VI batch, while new arrangement could be made mandatory from the next academic year
