Adidas begins layoffs at Gurugram tech hub amid restructuring push

Adidas said the changes were intended to simplify parts of the organisation, strengthen critical capabilities and position the company for long-term success

German sportswear manufacturer Adidas has begun large-scale layoffs at its India Tech Hub in Gurugram. According to a report in Wocult, the layoffs affected an estimated 350 or more employees, including software engineers, data scientists and data engineers, out of a workforce of around 700.

However, in a statement to Business Standard, Adidas said the layoffs are likely to affect less than 20 per cent of the workforce in its technology operations.

The employees were reportedly informed about the cuts during a town hall on Tuesday, September 15. The impacted roles include software engineers, data scientists and data engineers.
