Kartavya Path glows with 1.25 lakh diyas as Delhi marks PM Modi’s 76th birthday
New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) Kartavya Path was illuminated with around 1.25 lakh earthen lamps on Thursday as Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta joined the public in lighting an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
The words ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ were formed using multiple clay lamps, which were lit by Gupta, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj, NDMC Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal and members of the public.
Diyas were also lit at the Red Fort, where BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal and BJP leader Sunil Bansal participated in the programme.
The Delhi government organised several programmes across the city during the day to mark Modi’s birthday.
A Namo Shramik Sewa Kendra was inaugurated by Gupta in her Shalimar Bagh constituency.
She said workers can register themselves at the centre free of cost and avail themselves of various schemes of the Delhi and central governments.
