Manipur BJP organises ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ to mark PM Modi’s birthday
Imphal, Sep 17 (PTI) The Manipur BJP on Thursday evening organised ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ programmes at several places across the state to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday.
In several parts of Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh’s Singjamei constituency in Imphal, people lit candles and placed paper lanterns along roads to celebrate Modi’s birthday.
Singh, who participated in the candle-lighting programme in Singjamei, said, “Today is Modi’s birthday, and I want to extend best wishes to him on behalf of the government of Manipur and the people of the state.” State BJP president A Sharda Devi, along with party workers, lit an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ at the Kali Maa Temple “to honour and pray for the good health, long life and continuous service of Modi on his 76th birthday”, a party functionary said.
Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata visited the Govindaji Temple at the Palace Compound and offered prayers and lit candles for Modi’s well-being.
The BJP’s Heingang Mandal, which covers the constituency of former chief minister N Biren Singh, also organised an ‘Ashirwad Ka Diya’ programme at the Marjing Polo statue by lighting candles.
Hundreds of locals, including students, also participated in a candle-lighting programme at Andro Resort in Imphal East district, praying for Modi’s long life and good health. PTI COR MNB
