Delhi CM Rekha Gupta donates blood, launches organ portal on PM Modi's birthday
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta donated blood and launched the city's organ donation portal during programmes marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 76th birthday. The day-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan blended welfare outreach, public participation and symbolic tributes across the capital.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday donated blood at a mega camp organised by the Delhi government as part of programmes held to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 76th birthday. According to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office, the camp collected 2,080 units of blood, while several events were organised across the city under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'.
Gupta also launched Delhi's official organ donation portal and pledged to donate her organs. She said the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', inspired by Modi's 25 years in public life, was strengthening the spirit of service and public participation in Delhi.
The blood donation camp was held at Thyagaraj Stadium. Union Minister of State and Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, along with Delhi government ministers, also donated blood there. Gupta said, "Blood donation is not merely the act of giving blood, but a noble pledge that strengthens the sacred bond of humanity, compassion and empathy."
Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in Vadnagar, Gujarat. He will complete 25 uninterrupted years in public office on October 7, having first taken oath as Gujarat chief minister in 2001 before becoming prime minister in 2014.
Earlier in the day, Gupta inaugurated a Namo Shramik Sewa Kendra in her Shalimar Bagh constituency and said government services and welfare schemes would be made available under one roof. She said 13 such centres would be opened in the first phase. She also took part in a yajna at the Khatu Shyam Temple on GT Karnal Road.
Under the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan', the Delhi government also released two special songs at the secretariat. Gupta launched the songs, which were sung by schoolchildren, and also joined them in singing, the CMO statement said. Education Minister Ashish Sood and a large number of students from Delhi government schools were present, it added.
In the evening, Gupta joined people at Kartavya Path to light 1.25 lakh earthen lamps under the 'Ashirwad Ka Diya' campaign, seeking blessings for the prime minister. The day's events, from the blood donation camp and organ donation pledge to the launch of welfare initiatives and public programmes, were organised by the Delhi government to mark Modi's birthday.
