Satwant is the son of Kehar Singh who was executed for his role in the 1984 assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. With this, family members of the three men involved in the Indira assassination case have found a prominent place in the pro-Khalistani outfit. The Faridkot MP, Sarabjit Singh Khalsa, is the son of Beant Singh, one of the assassins. The outfit’s parliamentary board member Sukhwinder Singh Aghwan is the nephew of Satwant Singh, the second assassin who was hanged alongside Kehar Singh.
