The tenant had accused Raj of harassment and alleged that she had barged into his flat, sharing a series of videos showing their confrontations. He later posted another clip claiming she had been arrested, with visuals of the police arriving at her home. Now, in a video shared on Instagram, Raj addressed the controversy with her side of the story in Punjabi. She began by saying she had been taken into police custody but was released immediately.“Yes, the police did take me into custody. I don't know what information they had received, but they simply took me home and released me right then and there,” she said. She also clarified that the video was recorded 10 days earlier but had surfaced publicly only a few days before. She said the controversy had affected her customers and acquaintances and thanked the 300 customers who visited her to show their support.“My customers, who have supported me so much over the past four years, came to visit me yesterday,” she said, adding that she had been unable to answer all the calls she received. Raj then gave her account of the tenancy dispute. She claimed the tenants had not paid rent for several months and accused them of harassing her and damaging her property.“I decided to make this video, to let everyone know that I am perfectly fine. Also, the tenants hadn't been paying rent for several months; they were harassing me and damaging the property,” she said."I had been dealing with the Tenancy Board regarding this, and they were finally evicted last week. They released those videos later; meanwhile, the police and my lawyer are working on the matter, and we are handling the situation smoothly. What’s done is done, but everything is okay as lawyers, the police, and the Tenancy Board are all involved. Thanks for helping me,” she added.Watch the video here:The clash began when Raj objected to her Canadian tenant using a barbecue in the garden with a friend. In one video from the incident, Raj was seen removing patties from a grill at the property. The man could be heard asking, “Why are you trying to intimidate us? We are just trying to cook dinner.”Raj then picked up a slab of wood and pushed the patties off the grill, saying, “You cannot do this on my property. I'm calling the police right away.”The confrontation later escalated, with another clip showing Raj entering the tenant’s home and throwing rocks in his direction before a physical altercation. The man repeatedly asked her to stop and appeared to keep his distance during the confrontation. After the videos went viral, the tenant accused Raj of harassment and alleged that the barbecue dispute was part of a wider pattern of confrontations with her. He also posted further clips alleging that she had assaulted him.In his last update, the tenant posted a video showing police arriving at the landlady's home. The officers told her, “Raj, you are under arrest, please don't argue.” Seemingly confused, she replied, “It's going to be stressful. No, I have to call my daughter. Can I call my daughter?”The officers were then seen handcuffing her before escorting her to a police van.- EndsPublished By: Srimoyee ChowdhuryPublished On: Sep 13, 2026 10:26 IST
