How outlets told it

An explosion was reported at the Jalalabad police station in Punjab’s Fazilka district around 2 am on Sunday, prompting a forensic investigation into the incident. As of now, no casualties have been reported. However, several reports suggest that the window panes of three to four cars have been shattered following the blast.

Soon after receiving the information, a team of the Punjab Police reached the spot to examine the scene. Meanwhile, the police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the explosion. Investigation in the matter is currently underway.

In a separate incident, Punjab Police foiled a cross-border arms smuggling module with the arrest of five individuals after a hot chase in Gurdaspur and recovered six pistols from their possession, a top police officer said on Sunday.

The arrested have been identified as Sukhwinder Singh, Karan Kumar, Balraj Singh, Amrik Singh and Manjinder Singh. Apart from recovering weapons, police also impounded their SUV, DGP Gaurav Yadav said.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment of weapons and ammunition was smuggled from across the border through drones.
