Anantapur Village Stays Away From Ganesh Chaturthi Celebrations
How outlets told it

Anantapur: While the 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival has begun across the country, residents of Settur village in Basampalli mandal of Anantapur district have decided to stay away from the celebrations this year.
The decision comes as the village’s traditional Maremma Ammavari Utsavams are scheduled to begin on Tuesday. The annual festivities are usually held one or two days before Vinayaka Chavithi. However, this year, the celebrations are starting on Tuesday, coinciding with the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.
According to the villagers, they believe it would not be appropriate to conduct Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations while the Maremma Ammavari Utsavams are underway, as non-vegetarian food is traditionally prepared as part of the village festival.
As a result, the villagers have decided not to organise Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations this year and will instead participate in the Maremma Ammavari Utsavams.
