Mussoorie Traffic: Weekend tourist rush triggers several-kilometre-long traffic jam

On the Mussoorie-Dehradun road near Paniwala Band, increasing vehicle pressure from afternoon through evening resulted in a traffic jam stretching for several kilometres. Tourists heading towards Mussoorie were forced to remain stuck in traffic for hours, causing significant inconvenience. The situation was reportedly worsened by the narrow and damaged condition of the road, which made it difficult for vehicles to move smoothly. Local residents and business owners have raised concerns over the poor traffic management during weekends. They argue that timely repairs to the damaged road and a proper traffic-management plan could have prevented the prolonged congestion. The traffic chaos has also raised concerns about its potential impact on Mussoorie’s tourism sector, especially during busy weekends when the hill station attracts large numbers of visitors.
