PM Modi's 15 Bilateral Meetings, Delhi Declaration Cap Off 'Productive' BRICS Summit

In the last 72 hours, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held 15 sit-down bilateral meetings with heads of states or heads of governments on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Alongside these 15 bilateral meetings, the Prime Minister also had pull-aside meetings with various world leaders and leaders of international institutions.

India hosted the BRICS Summit on September 12-13, and it was attended by the leaders of the 11 member countries and 10 partner countries of the grouping, besides some international organisations.

The leaders with whom Modi had the bilateral meetings included Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Abu Dhabi's Crown Prince Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

PM Modi also had bilateral meetings with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, Vietnamese counterpart Le Minh Hung, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Philippines Ferdinand R Marcos Jr and Uganda's Vice President Jessica Alupo, besides others.

PM Modi Thanks BRICS Leaders

PM Modi on Sunday expressed gratitude to the leaders of all the BRICS member countries for making the Delhi summit of the grouping productive and outcome-oriented.

A video reflecting key moments of the two-day summit was posted on the social media handles of the prime minister. "Thank you to all BRICS leaders for making the Delhi Summit very productive and outcome oriented," PM Modi said in a post along with the video.

Iran, UAE On Same Table: BRICS Members Adopt Delhi Declaration With Consensus

The BRICS grouping on Saturday adopted a joint declaration with consensus, overcoming sharp divisions between Iran and the UAE over the West Asia conflict following a series of back-channel negotiations. PM Modi announced the adoption of the declaration at the end of the opening day's deliberations, saying, "No member has raised any objection. The New Delhi Declaration 2026 is adopted unanimously."

PM Modi said that the bloc had come of age and it was time to translate its unity and consensus into concrete results on the global stage.
