The operator of the paying guest facilities in a five-storey building in Satya Niketan was arrested, three days after the structure collapsed, killing seven persons.

The police said that Sudhanshu and his business partner, Shubham Tyagi, had leased the property from its owner in August 2025. Tyagi is absconding.

Sudhanshu is the fifth person to be arrested in the case. The building’s owner, Hari Ram, his son Mahesh, his wife Urmila and a labour contractor named Saroj were arrested earlier. Read on.

The Uttar Pradesh government will challenge the Allahabad High Court order quashing the National Security Act detention of a 25-year-old Delhi University graduate who was arrested after a workers’ protest in Noida. Gautam Buddha Nagar District Magistrate Medha Roopam will separately appeal the ruling.

The Act allows for long periods of detention without trial up to a year.
