It was earlier known as the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana before being renamed Delhi Lakshmi Yojana.The eligibility rules include a 10-year Delhi residency requirement, family-income limits and a provision that only one eligible woman per family can receive the benefit, with the eldest eligible woman selected where multiple women qualify. There are also several exclusion criteria, including certain government beneficiaries, four-wheeler-owning families and other specified conditions.The rollout is now entering a crucial phase. Reports say around 8 lakh women have registered, while sanction letters are expected to begin from August 26/27 and monthly payments are scheduled to start from September 1.Meanwhile, a fresh controversy has emerged over an MP/MLA endorsement requirement.
