Start the week with a film: ‘Call My Agent! The Movie’ brings back the charm of the original show

The first piece of good news is that the superb French show Call My Agent! has a film sequel. The second piece of good news is that Call My Agent! The Movie works.

All our favourite alumni of the now-shuttered ASK talent agency are back: ambitious Andrea (Camille Cottin), eager-to-please Noemie (Laure Calamy), smooth Mathias (Thibault de Montalembert), fussy Herve (Nicholas Maury), overwrought Gabriel (Gregory Montel), wise Arlette (Lilane Rovere). Despite being in different places in their careers, the ex-ASKians find their paths meeting at the same intersection that first brought them all together: a movie set.

The end of ASK means new beginnings most of all for Andrea. She can now chase her dream of becoming a filmmaker. Her script for a survival thriller, is ready. She casts Laetitia Casta and Vincent Macaigne. She ropes in Noemie, who’s now a successful television show producer.

So far, so good. But while Andrea hasn’t changed, Noemie has. Also, nobody has told Andrea that her lead actors share a history. And nothing prepares Andrea and her crew for the crisis that upends the shoot.
