Maharashtra Cabinet approves revised 5% sports quota for government jobs
The Maharashtra Cabinet on Tuesday revised the state’s sports policy, reserving five per cent of seats in government and semi-government jobs for sportspersons.
The Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department cancelled all earlier government resolutions (GRs), amended existing GRs and other decisions, and reserved five per cent of seats for sportspersons in government and semi-government jobs in the state. The Cabinet decision will supersede all previous government resolutions.

A gold medal winner at the National Games will now receive a cash reward of Rs 7 lakh, up from Rs 5 lakh earlier. The reward for a silver medal winner has been increased to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 3 lakh, while a bronze medal winner will receive Rs 3 lakh, up from Rs 1.5 lakh.
