CBI books former I-T Commissioner, wife in DA case
New Delhi, Sep 17 (PTI) The CBI has registered a case of amassing disproportionate assets worth over Rs 1.11 crore against a former Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions) and his wife, who was Deputy Inspector General, Central Industrial Security Force, officials said on Thursday.
The CBI had taken action after an existing investigation in a 2025 bribery case against the officer showed that he had amassed over Rs 2.34 crore during a nearly 30-month check period, they said.
After computing the legitimate income and expenses of the officer, the CBI has alleged that for assets worth Rs 1.11 crore there was no satisfactory explanation and classified them as disproportionate assets.
