West Bengal to add Syama Prasad Mookerjee to school, college curricula from 2027

West Bengal's Higher Education Department has asked state-aided educational institutions to include the life and legacy of Syama Prasad Mookerjee in their curricula. The move comes ahead of his 125th birth anniversary and will also include academic, archival and commemorative initiatives.
The West Bengal Higher Education Department has asked all state-aided schools, colleges and universities to include the life, contributions and legacy of Jan Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee in their curricula and organise educational and youth outreach programmes on the subject.
Higher Education Minister Jagannath Chattopadhyay said the changes would be introduced from the 2027 academic session.
