Time Magazine’s latest cover story on artificial intelligence has triggered a heated discussion online, after the publication examined whether AI development may be approaching a point where humans could struggle to control increasingly powerful systems.
Titled “The AI Tipping Point,” the story centres on growing concerns within the AI industry about the risks posed by advanced models and the pace at which companies are developing them.
One of the key figures featured is Jacob Coxon, a 27-year-old British AI researcher who resigned from Anthropic after previously working at OpenAI. In a post on X, Coxon argued that leading AI companies were moving too quickly towards what he described as self-improving superintelligence.
