Kargil War veteran allegedly assaulted over parking dispute in Gurugram
NEW DELHI: A dinner outing with his family turned into a violent attack for a Kargil War veteran in Gurugram on the night of September 10, when a parking attendant allegedly hit him with an iron rod, leaving him with a serious head injury and a fractured elbow.
Retired Indian Air Force Group Captain Amit Kumar Gupta, who was part of ‘Operation Safed Sagar’ during the 1999 Kargil War, was taken to Medanta Hospital and underwent surgery after the assault at Magnum Global Park in Sector 58. Gupta had gone to Gonzo Restaurant at the complex with his family for dinner. At around 8 pm, he left them at the restaurant and went to park his car.
In his complaint, Gupta alleged that the parking staff first directed him to the valet parking, then the basement parking and finally the multi-level parking. He said he was made to move between the parking areas for a long time before the staff refused to park his car. The reason for the refusal is not known.
