CM Vijay won’t promote son Jason Sanjay’s debut film Sigma. Here’s why
Thalapathy Vijay will not promote Jason Sanjay's Sigma, which will mark the latter's debut as a director. Jason said Vijay is excited to watch Sigma but has many responsibilities as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
Debutant director Jason Sanjay said his father Thalapathy Vijay will not promote Sigma, as he wants the campaign to stay focused on the film rather than on him. Speaking at the film’s pre-release event in Salem, Jason said Vijay, now Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, has many responsibilities and is instead waiting to watch the film.
Jason said he wants Sigma to be recognised for its story and the work of its team, not simply as the first film directed by Vijay’s son. The project marks an important step for him in building an identity separate from his father, one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars, whose career spans more than three decades with films such as Ghilli, Thuppakki, Mersal and Leo. Vijay later entered politics with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and has taken on a larger public role as its leader.
