Fit, groomed and ready: Pentagon lays down rules for Hegseth address attendees
Servicemembers selected for the event will have to meet waist-to-height ratio requirements, pass fitness tests and maintain strict grooming and uniform standards.
The Pentagon has asked military commanders to nominate servicemembers to attend an upcoming address by Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, but getting a spot in the audience will require more than simply being selected by a commanding officer.
According to internal communications reviewed by The Wall Street Journal, troops being considered for the event must meet specific physical fitness requirements, including waist-to-height ratio benchmarks. They must also pass the required fitness tests and maintain what the directive describes as ‘impeccable’ grooming and uniform standards, with no exceptions.
