In a major diplomatic development, Turkish Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalın and a senior Qatari security delegation led by official Al-Kubaisi have arrived in Kabul to initiate a fresh push for rapprochement between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The surprise high-level visit marks a dramatic step up in joint mediation efforts by Ankara and Doha, both of which are working to bridge deep-seated differences between Islamabad and the Taliban leadership following a period of unprecedented military escalation.
Tensions along the Durand Line have deteriorated sharply over the past year, spilling over into open warfare and cross-border airstrikes between Pakistani forces and Taliban troops. The escalating military confrontation has been heavily fueled by ongoing disputes over safe havens for the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), with repeated ceasefires collapsing and fighting increasingly spreading toward urban areas. Recognising the regional threat of an unchecked conflict, Turkey and Qatar have revived their diplomatic intervention, picking up momentum following reported exploratory talks hosted in Belarus.
