Narita Airport's free layover tours are back this October
After a six-year pause, Tokyo's Narita is once again offering free guided excursions to transit passengers with a few hours to spare
Narita Airport's free layover tours are coming back this October, giving international transit passengers a way to turn a long stopover into an actual outing rather than hours spent staring at departure boards.
The Narita Airport Transit & Stay Program was suspended in 2020 and returns on October 1, 2026. It offers Standard Tours led by English-speaking volunteer guides across six municipalities near the airport — Narita City, Katori, Tako, Shibayama, Sakae and Kozaki. There's no charge for the tour or the guide, though travellers cover their own transport, food and admission fees. Bookings opened on September 15.
