Steve Smith reveals cameras and flashes trigger trauma from the 2018 Sandpaper Gate incident, making him relive the experience. He felt "thrown to the wolves" by Cricket Australia.
Australian batter Steve Smith has revealed that cameras and the sound of flashes make him relive the trauma of the Sandpaper Gate incident, even eight years later.
Smith captained Australia when Cameron Bancroft was caught using sandpaper on the match ball during South Africa’s third innings in the Newlands Test. Smith accepted he was aware of the plan and was consequently stripped of the captaincy, sent home and banned for a year by Cricket Australia (CA).
