Australia is set to tighten migration rules by preventing foreign students from bringing their partners and children with them while they study, according to media reports on Thursday.

The changes are expected to form part of a wider immigration policy aimed at bringing down net overseas migration, with the country’s Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke due to outline the measures in a speech at the National Press Club.
