Gurugram man objects to molestation, accused attack his shop the next day
Gurugram, Sep 17 (PTI) A mobile shop owner was allegedly attacked with swords, his store vandalised, and expensive items looted by a group of men after he objected to the molestation of a female family member, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the Badshahpur area on Thursday morning, hours after the two main accused allegedly escaped from police custody, officials said.
According to the police complaint filed by the victim, Jatin, who runs a mobile shop named ‘Garg Communications’, the trouble began late Wednesday night when he was returning home with his family and friends after shopping.
Two men in a Creta car allegedly began molesting a young woman in Jatin’s vehicle. When Jatin objected, a heated altercation broke out, prompting him to call the police control room.
A police team arrived at the spot, apprehended the accused, and seized their car.
However, while being escorted to the police station, the accused allegedly forced the police officer out of the vehicle near the Badshahpur police station and fled the scene after threatening Jatin, the complainant alleged.
On Thursday morning, the accused, along with their associates, arrived at Jatin’s shop armed with swords.
The attackers barged inside, smashed glass counters, and assaulted an employee, who sustained injuries, police said.
The attackers allegedly fled with expensive mobile phones and gold chains.A police team visited the crime scene and scanned CCTV footage from the area, which showed the suspects heading towards the shop.
“Following the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the suspects and a probe is underway. The accused will be arrested soon,” Inspector Rajesh Kumar, SHO of Badshahpur police station, said. PTI COR APL APL
