Two terrorists were killed in a joint counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, security forces said on Thursday.
The operation, codenamed 'Operation Sohan', was launched during the intervening night of September 16 and 17 after intelligence inputs indicated the presence of terrorists in the Brattal area.
Despite difficult weather, challenging terrain and poor visibility, troops of the White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a targeted operation in the area.
Two terrorists were subsequently neutralised, security forces said. The identities and affiliations of the slain terrorists have not yet been officially disclosed. Local reports said the operation involved a gunfight and that arms and ammunition were recovered during searches.
The operation remains underway, with security forces continuing search and surveillance operations to check for any other threats in the area.
