Yash Co-Star Denies He Interfered With Toxic, Caused Its Underperformance: 'Was Directed By One Person'

Akshay Oberoi said Yash wanted to take Kannada cinema to the pan-India level with Toxic.

Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups underperformed at the box office despite a power-packed cast and a visible marketing campaign. The film was released amid much anticipation and even became a cultural talking point before it hit theatres. However, the film’s theatrical run seemed underwhelming. Reports alleged the film’s underperformance was due to Yash’s interference in the narrative.

However, his co-star Akshay Oberoi has quashed these rumours. “In my experience, I didn’t see anything like that. People who have purchased the tickets to watch the film have a right to express their opinion and perform a postmortem of the film. It is people’s personal social media accounts, and they get to write anything they want. However, I was on set, and I know I was directed by one person- Geethu Mohandas. I genuinely hope that I get to work with her again," Akshay said in a chat with Kadak on YouTube.
