Rs 15 crore drugs seized in Faridabad, 3 foreign nationals arrested
A joint raid by Faridabad Crime Branch and NCB Delhi unit in Faridabad led to the arrest of three foreign nationals and seizure of cocaine and other drugs worth Rs 15 crore. The case has widened into a probe of the narcotics supply network.
Three foreign nationals have been arrested and narcotic substances worth around Rs 15 crore seized in a joint operation by the NIT Crime Branch in Faridabad and the Narcotics Control Bureau, Delhi, police said on Tuesday.
The raid was carried out in the Lakkarpur area after the police received information that foreign nationals were in possession of narcotics.
Police said 10 other people from different African countries were also found living at the premises and their documents are being verified after they failed to give what officers described as satisfactory responses about their stay. If the documents are found to be invalid, deportation proceedings will be started, officials said.
According to the police, a team led by Inspector Anil Chhillar of Crime Branch NIT, along with an NCB Delhi team, searched the second floor of House No 16 in Shiv Durga Vihar, Lakkarpur, on Tuesday night using a search warrant. During the operation, a large quantity of narcotics was recovered.
"The seized substances were tested by the Delhi NCB team, yielding positive results for cocaine and amphetamine. The police raid resulted in the recovery of 2.337 kg of cocaine, 26 grams of amphetamine, 1.378 kg of a suspected narcotic substance, and Rs 50,000 in cash. The estimated value of the seized narcotics in the international market is reported to be around Rs 15 crore," said Aman Yadav, ACP (Crime), Faridabad.
The arrested men were identified as Ifeanyi Emmanuel and Bell John alias Enudun Emmanuel, both from Nigeria, and Remy alias Amos Ovie of Cameroon. Police said the three accused were living in the house as tenants and documents linked to their passports were also being examined.
"During the raid, 10 other individuals from African countries were found residing in the premises on a rent basis, who failed to provide satisfactory responses regarding their documents. Verification of their documents is currently being conducted by the office of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Delhi," ACY Yadav said.
"If the documents are found to be invalid, proceedings for their deportation will be initiated. We have taken the accused on police remand and are questioning them. During the remand, they will be interrogated regarding the supply, source and network of the narcotics, as well as other individuals linked to this consignment," he added.
