Mentally ill tribal woman raped; Keralam worker arrested
A Keralam worker was arrested in Mysuru for allegedly raping a mentally challenged tribal woman from the Jenu Kuruba community. The incident occurred near a ginger plantation, with villagers initially resolving it privately before police intervention.

The villagers had reportedly not come forward to lodge a complaint, by resolving the issue in a village panchayat, by directing the accused to offer a 'penalty' (thappu kaanike) to a temple.
