Penélope Cruz wears Indian jewellery brand Zoya at Toronto Film Festival red carpet

Penélope Cruz wore Indian luxury jewellery brand Zoya at TIFF 2026, pairing its new high jewellery with a feathered Tamara Ralph couture gown.
Penélope Cruz brought an Indian jewellery label to one of the biggest red carpets at the Toronto International Film Festival, wearing high jewellery by Tata Group-owned Zoya for the premiere of La Bola Negra on September 15.
The Oscar-winning actor paired her statement jewellery with a custom Tamara Ralph couture gown from the designer’s Fall 2026 collection. The white, figure-hugging gown featured a plunging scoop neckline, delicate straps and dramatic ostrich-feather detailing that framed her shoulders and extended down towards the hem.
But it was her choice of jewellery that brought an Indian label into focus. Cruz wore three pieces from Zoya’s upcoming High Jewellery collection, including the Rekindle Necklace, the Wildflower Heart Ring and the Iconic Lattice Bangle.
The look offers an early glimpse of Zoya’s new collection, which draws on India’s spices and their distinctive colours, textures and associations. The collection is built around natural gemstones and sculptural forms, with the brand describing the pieces as an exploration of memory, ritual and self-discovery.
Penélope Cruz’s Zoya necklace features 19 carats of heliodor
The centrepiece of Cruz’s look was Zoya’s Rekindle Necklace, an elaborate interpretation of the classic eternity silhouette.
The necklace features 19 carats of golden heliodor, a gemstone whose warm yellow hue gives the piece its turmeric-inspired character. Yellow and pink sapphires surround the central stones, adding saturated colour to the otherwise golden composition.
Zoya says the necklace took more than 1,200 hours of craftsmanship to complete. Its sculptural lattice has an open-back construction, allowing light to pass through the heliodor and bring out the depth of the stones.
The necklace is part of the upcoming collection’s larger exploration of India’s spice traditions. Rather than using a literal interpretation of turmeric, the design translates its golden colour into a contemporary high-jewellery piece.
Her amethyst ring took almost a year to perfect
Cruz’s ring offered a sharper contrast to the warm tones of the necklace. The Wildflower Heart Ring centres on a 13-carat amethyst cut using Zoya’s proprietary Bloom Cut. The deep violet gemstone is surrounded by pink sapphires and diamonds, creating a floral effect around the central stone.
According to Zoya, the Bloom Cut was developed through nearly a year of experimentation and precision cutting. Its spiral facets are designed to give the amethyst a sculptural, flower-like appearance while maximising its play of light.
The ring’s inspiration comes from wildflowers, with the design intended to evoke individuality and an untamed quality.
The final piece was a diamond and tanzanite bangle
Completing the jewellery look was Zoya’s Iconic Lattice Bangle. The gold bangle features a lattice structure illuminated with brilliant-cut diamonds. Its chamfered ends are finished with emerald-cut tanzanites, adding another layer of colour to Cruz’s otherwise predominantly gold and violet jewellery palette.
Together, the three pieces brought several different gemstones into the look, from the golden heliodor and yellow and pink sapphires of the necklace to the amethyst, diamonds and pink sapphires of the ring and the tanzanites of the bangle.
Cruz’s appearance also comes at a significant moment for Zoya, which is positioning its upcoming collection as an expression of Indian craft and design for an international luxury audience. The actor’s TIFF appearance gives the yet-to-be-released collection an early red-carpet showcase.
The choice also placed an Indian jewellery house alongside an international couture name on one of the festival’s major red carpets. Cruz has been at TIFF this year for both La Bola Negra and Bunker, and was also among the festival’s Special Tribute Award recipients.
For the La Bola Negra premiere, the combination was deliberately high-impact: a feathered white Tamara Ralph gown against richly coloured Indian high jewellery, with Zoya’s gemstones providing the strongest visual contrast.
Zoya Business Head Amanpreet Ahluwalia said the brand viewed the appearance as an opportunity to take its design language to an international audience. She said, “Seeing Penélope Cruz wear ZOYA on this global stage feels like an affirmation of that creative conviction. It is a moment where our language meets the world, not simply to be seen, but to add something distinctive to the conversation.”
Cruz’s TIFF appearance put the spotlight on a new Indian high-jewellery collection before its official launch, with three elaborate pieces carrying Zoya’s interpretation of colour, gemstones and Indian-inspired design onto an international film festival red carpet.
