Keralam for further relaxation in ESA; Pressure on govt to pass resolution

Kerala’s Congress govt faces mounting pressure to relax the centre’s latest ESA draft notification. Farmers, churches and environmentalists clash over land restrictions, construction rules and loan hurdles. State demands ESA slashed to 8,590 sq km, citing high forest cover.

The Congress govt is also under pressure to follow the path of Karnataka in passing a resolution rejecting the latest draft notification on ESA issued by the Centre.
