Woman interrupts Trump’s speech during rally. President says her mother would be furious
Donald Trump was campaigning for Senate candidate Michael Whatley in Gastonia, North Carolina.
New Delhi: US President Donald Trump was interrupted during his speech at a campaign rally in Gastonia, North Carolina, on Wednesday, after a protester caused commotion in the crowd.
The President, who was campaigning for Senate candidate Michael Whatley, briefly paused his speech to address the heckler from the stage.
“What do you have—a bad guy or a good guy over there?” Trump asked. “Show it to me. Show him. Let me see his face,” he said, before learning that the person was a woman.
“Let me see his face. Oh, it’s a she. Hello?”
Following this, Trump said that the protesting woman was “going home to mama”.
“Her mother is watching right now on television, furious at her daughter.”
The Gastonia rally was Trump’s first major campaign event since the Republican Party’s midterm convention in Dallas last week.
The interruption happened shortly after Trump started his speech. At the time, he was praising Elon Musk for providing Starlink internet to parts of North Carolina in 2024 after Hurricane Helene caused widespread destruction.
It was not clear what the woman was doing that elicited Trump’s reaction. Social media users soon picked up on the exchange, resharing the moment and discussing how Trump reacted after learning that the protester was a woman.
“Trump definitely knows how to turn an interruption into a moment,” one user wrote on X.
“That rally went from campaign speech to family drama in record time,” another commented.
