‘How Can There Be A Blanket Ban?’ Delhi HC Questions Police Over Protest Refusal At Jantar Mantar

According to the petitioner's counsel, the police had initially indicated that permission would be granted but later refused it.
The Delhi High Court on Thursday questioned the Delhi Police over its decision to deny permission to the Kshatriya Karni Sena to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar against reservation policies and the recently notified UGC (Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions) Regulations, 2026.
A bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma questioned why the police had refused permission altogether instead of imposing conditions on the proposed demonstration.
