Woman killed, five hurt in wall collapse incidents in UP’s Bareilly due to rain, strong winds
Bareilly (UP), Sep 17 (PTI) A 25-year-old woman was killed and five people were injured in separate wall collapse incidents in Bareilly on Thursday during a spell of strong winds and rain, police said.
According to police, Ganesi went to feed cattle in the morning when strong winds and rain began, and she took shelter near an abandoned building, whose wall suddenly collapsed in Ballakota village under the CB Ganj police station area.
She was trapped under the debris and died before family members and villagers could rescue her.
Ganesi’s husband, Krishnapal, works as a labourer, and the couple has three young children.
Sub-Inspector Sanjeev Kumar visited the spot and sent the body for a post-mortem. Bareilly Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Santosh Kumar Singh said information about the incident had been sought from the Sadar sub-divisional magistrate.
In another incident, a neighbour’s wall collapsed onto a house near the Khadda area of Bakarganj Valmiki Basti under the Qila police station, injuring five people.
