Bangladesh Reviews 101 India Deals Signed Under Sheikh Hasina Government: 'Outcome Very Soon'

The review comes days after Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir said Dhaka needed to move beyond its “fascination with India”.
Bangladesh’s BNP-led government is reviewing 101 agreements and memorandums of understanding signed with India during the previous Awami League government. The review was disclosed by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Parliament Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni. Asked about the future of agreements involving the use of Bangladeshi ports by Indian vessels, Nurul Islam Moni said all 101 agreements were being reviewed and that the outcome would be announced soon.
“We are discussing all the agreements with India. You will see the outcome very soon," Nurul Islam Moni said. He said Bangladesh wanted to maintain friendly relations with India but would give priority to its own national interests.
