UP man caught meeting girlfriend at night, beaten before surprise temple wedding

A 20-year-old man was taken to a police station after he was caught meeting his girlfriend at night in Kaushambi. The matter ended with both families agreeing to their marriage and declining police action.
A late-night meeting with his girlfriend landed a 20-year-old man at a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Kaushambi, but what followed was an unexpected turn - both families agreed to their marriage and got the couple married at a temple.
The incident took place in Shergarh village under Pipri police station limits. Akash Divakar, 20, a resident of Jati village, had gone to meet his 19-year-old girlfriend Saloni Divakar on Wednesday night.
The two have reportedly been in a relationship for around three years and would meet each other secretly, according to the information available.
Akash’s visit came to light after the girl’s family allegedly caught the couple together. The family members allegedly assaulted Akash before informing the police.
Police reached the spot and took him to the police station.
But instead of turning into a police case, the matter soon moved towards a wedding.
After the two families discussed the matter, they agreed to get Akash and Saloni married.
The families then took the couple to a temple near Tilhapur Mod, where they got married.
Visuals from the temple show the couple participating in the wedding ceremony.
The marriage brought an unexpected end to a relationship that had reportedly continued for nearly three years.
Pipri police station in-charge Chandra Bhushan Maurya said both families agreed to the marriage and did not want any police action.
“Both families agreed to the marriage and did not want any action. We have received information that the two got married at a temple,” Maurya said.
Police said the matter was resolved after the families reached an agreement.
