‘Energy Security First’: Indian Envoy After US Congress Nod For 100% Tariffs On Russian Oil Buyers

Trump has said he will sign the measure, which had cleared the Senate in an 86-11 vote last month.
Indian Ambassador to the United States Vinay Mohan Kwatra on Thursday said India’s energy security must come first, a day after the US House of Representatives passed a sweeping sanctions package that gives President Donald Trump the authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on major buyers of Russian oil and gas, including potentially India.
“The energy security of India’s people comes first!" Kwatra said in a post on X.
