Rani Mukerji Channels ‘Tumhi Dekho Na’ Charm In A Black Saree At Sabyasachi’s New York Show

Fashion folks, the much-awaited moment has finally arrived: Sabyasachi has officially brought his world to New York Fashion Week with “Bengal Byzantine Broadway," a spectacular meeting of Calcutta craftsmanship, Byzantine opulence and New York modernity on 15th September.
And while the runway delivered plenty of drama, with Christy Turlington opening the show in a triple-denim look, the front row had a quieter fashion moment of its own. Rani Mukerji made her own statement from the front row and she did it with a black saree.

She arrived in a fluid black saree paired with a sleeveless blouse, keeping the palette almost entirely monochrome and letting the silhouette do the work.
And then came the hair. With her hair left loose and softly styled, the look suddenly carried a very specific Rani Mukerji nostalgia. You know the one. The flowing saree, the loose hair, the understated romance, and before you know it, your brain has wandered straight into ‘Tumhi Dekho Na’ from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.
And the visual connection is hard to ignore. That familiar Bollywood softness is still there; it has simply traded the chiffon-and-snow setting for a Sabyasachi front row in New York.
Her makeup keeps the look clean and defined. She wears a soft matte base with subtle contouring, while warm-toned blush adds shape to the cheeks. She frames her eyes with defined brows. A muted nude lip ties the whole look together.
The accessories follow the same formula. Gold earrings and rings add just enough shine, while a timeless leather watch grounds the look. A black-and-gold clutch brings in the much-needed Sabyasachi touch. And that is precisely why the look works.
But then the oversized black sunglasses shift the mood completely. They sharpen the otherwise romantic silhouette and give the saree a distinctly New York finish.
