Arunachal Governor calls for innovation, excellence at NERIST
Itanagar, Sep 16 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd) on Wednesday called upon the academic leadership of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), near here, to stay ahead of rapid technological changes and prepare students to meet emerging technological, economic and social challenges.
Interacting with deans and heads of departments of the deemed university, Parnaik said technology would shape the future of humanity and stressed the need for innovation, adaptability and solutions to real-world problems, an official statement said.
As President of the NERIST Society, the governor said the institute, a premier technical institution with a distinguished legacy, must strive to produce graduates who are technologically competent, innovative and socially responsible.
He said the people of Arunachal Pradesh and the entire North East have high expectations from NERIST and urged the institute to develop young minds into creators of opportunities, entrepreneurs, researchers and leaders who can contribute to the progress of the state and the country.
Parnaik encouraged the deans and heads of departments to motivate students to pursue excellence in emerging areas, particularly Artificial Intelligence, advanced technologies, research and innovation.
He also called upon the faculty to promote a culture of curiosity, critical thinking and scientific inquiry that leads to meaningful research and impactful innovations.
Referring to recent developments on the campus, the governor stressed the importance of integrity, transparency and collective responsibility. He said every member of the NERIST fraternity must work with honesty and dedication and share a common commitment towards the growth of the institution.
“Our ultimate aim must be to take NERIST to greater heights of excellence and national relevance,” he said.
Reaffirming his support to the institute, Parnaik assured NERIST of his full commitment and assistance in strengthening it as a centre of technological excellence, innovation and nation-building.
